The ARA Sustainability Framework provides a shared direction for Australia’s rendering and used cooking oil recycling sectors, helping the industry define, communicate and demonstrate its contribution to a more sustainable future.
Rendering already plays an important role in the circular economy by recovering value from materials that may otherwise go to waste and transforming them into useful products for agriculture, food production, energy and other markets. The Framework builds on that role by giving the industry a practical structure for identifying priorities, measuring progress and responding to changing expectations from customers, communities, regulators and global markets.
It focuses on four key areas: Resource Efficiency, Circular Economy, Market Access and Environmental Protection. These priorities are supported by strong foundations including skilled people, safe and responsible workplaces, constructive community relationships and resilient value chains.
Importantly, the Framework is designed to be practical. It provides a consistent way for ARA and its members to understand the sustainability issues that matter most, track progress over time and communicate the industry’s achievements with greater clarity and evidence.
Ultimately, it supports a globally trusted and sustainable Australian rendering and UCO recycling sector, recognised for recovering value, reducing waste and contributing to resilient supply chains.
